Lancaster Country Club
Lancaster Country Club is an 18-hole private for-profit club located near Lancaster, Ohio 35 miles southeast of Columbus. The club was purchased by a small ownership group of three members in March 2013 with a mission to restore Lancaster CC to its former glory. The Lancaster Country Club was founded in 1909 around a 9-hole course. The original course was redesigned by the Donald Ross Design Company in 1926, and has all the character you would expect from a design that early. Gently rolling hills, mounded greens, and a design that fits with the surrounding land. In 1959 the course was expanded to 18 holes by renowned designer Jack Kidwell. In the 1980's the Donald Ross Society visited and offered direction on a redesign of the front 9 (Kidwell design) that would make the two sides flow together. The par 72 18-hole course features 5 sets of tees ranging from 5233 to the championship tees at 6,739 yards with a 73.0 course rating and a 141 slope rating.
From humble beginnings in 1909, and with the help of the Peter's family, the Lancaster Country Club was formed. With the emphasis on outdoor activities, a clay tennis court and the golf course, a day of fun and recreation was just a short trolley ride away. Today Lancaster Country Club has a Junior Olympic swimming pool and a clubhouse to host dinners and parties for any occasion.
